Toastmasters

CHIRS Toastmasters "New Beginnings" is a registered Charter Member of Toastmasters International and is open to the CHIRS community and to members of the public by invitation-only. Toastmasters allows participants the opportunity to improve their communication and leadership skills while they gain comfort and confidence in various aspects of public speaking. In addition to formal speeches, there are opportunities for improvisational participation within formally defined roles. Individuals participate at their own pace and emphasis is on team support. There is an additional benefit of opportunities to practice social interactions and give/receive feedback in a supported environment . The CHIRS program is further modified to support participants with acquired brain injury to be successful in the traditional Toastmasters roles.
