CHIRS: Your Partner in Acquired Brain Injury Support.
Explore CHIRS' comprehensive services for acquired brain injury.
Community Head Injury Resource Services of Toronto (CHIRS), formerly known as Ashby House, began in 1978 as the first community-based brain injury rehabilitation program in North America. Since then, CHIRS has evolved from a transitional group home into a multi-service agency, providing a broad range of support to clients with diverse and complex needs.
Additionally, CHIRS is a registered not-for-profit charitable organization primarily funded by Ontario Health and the Ontario Ministry of Health. Since 1997, CHIRS has consistently earned the highest level of accreditation awarded by Accreditation Canada. To achieve this, the agency is assessed against national acquired brain injury (ABI) standards. Moreover, CHIRS was selected as one of 14 programs worldwide included in the ‘Casebook of Exemplary Evidence-Informed Programs that Foster Community Participation after ABI’, making CHIRS a recognized centre of excellence globally.
